As 2023 is drawing to an end, and we are entering into a brand New Year, this is a great time to think about, and plan for the year ahead.
Often, people set a ” New Years Resolution”. The problem with New Years Resolutions are, people start with the full intention and motivation for their chosen goal, but after some time, the motivation reduces, this can lead to a short term trend , that looses its essence o purpose. Below are some simple steps to consider when setting your New Years Resolution or Goal:
Think about a realistic goal that will be beneficial for you and your overall wellbeing, not just for the short term, but for the longer term. Try to imagine what it would look like, or be like, in 6 months, or a years time from now.
Try not to set too many goals, as this can then become unsustainable.
Set a target, for example, after one month, if you are still continuing practising your New Years Resolution, or Goal, give yourself a reward for your achievements. This can support and maintain motivation.
After a while, sometimes a resistance can occur, this is where the new goal may loose its newness. If this happens, it’s useful to bring in some more self discipline. Go back to the “Why’s”. Remind yourself why did you set this goal.
The start of a New Year, is a wonderful opportunity to invite newness in. What do you want your New Year to be like. Think positive, draw a vision board, write down what you would like to achieve in the year ahead. Visualise it, and feel into it.
Wishing you all a wonderful year ahead.
